The Columbia (& Surrounding Areas) Pagan Networking Group

Description

One of the missions of the Gaia's Rising CUUPS Chapter is to educate the congregation of the UU Congregation of Columbia and the community on Pagan beliefs, practices and philosophies, in order to dispel fear and intolerance and further encourage a climate of active acceptance of Pagan paths and practitioners. WE will beginning to explore the Goddesses for 13 Months using excellent course of Rise up and Call Her Name Starting the First week in June.

Meeting are held on Thursdays the 1st and 3rd week of the month, from 7-9 PM. Meetings and rituals are open to members of the UUFC, interested Pagans from the community, as well as people who do not consider themselves Unitarian Universalists nor Pagans.

Childcare is available, but it's best to contact us first to be sure we have adequate care for the number of children.

Regular meetings are held in the library of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Columbia. The library is the small octagonal building on the Heyward Street side of the building. 2701 Woodrow Street at the corner of Heyward, in the Shandon neighborhood of Columbia, up from Five Points.

DC Firefly Pagan Meetup Group

DFW Tarot Circle

Starting Aug 5th

Beginner Classes – 1st Thursday of each Month – 6:30-9:30
Weather you’ve been reading Tarot for awhile or just started and haven’t opened your deck yet; this class is a great refresh with new perspectives for the seasoned readers and a great beginning for those just starting out. You will also learn how to read for others with confidence.

Intermediate Classes – 2nd Thurs of the month – 6:30 – 9:30
Beginners can also take this class since we will be looking at the cards through the Elements, concentrating on one suit at a time also working with new spreads, astrology, ethics for readers. This class will be more hands on practicing readings as well. Great for those that have reached a plateau in their readings and want to get the excitement back.

Both these classes will be really fun and interactive. There will be 8 classes for each and a graduation party. I will be using many on-line resources which you can also study on your own at your own pace as well as fun interactive games in class.

Supplies needed for Tarot classes

• Loose leaf notebook for hand outs and notes
• Tarot deck w/ bag, favorite small crystals to keep with cards.
• Snack tray table if you have one.( I have a few extras if you forget yours and will hopefully have more by the end of the first month)
• Small digital kitchen timer ( can get them at the Dollar store for $1)
• You are welcome to bring a camera for pics of spreads, etc or fun to post on meetup page.

Pagan Unity - Elgin

I know this is kind of short notice, but my husband and I will be spending Friday morning trying to weed the Labyrinth at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Elgin and get it in walkable shape. The more people who help, the faster we can get it finished. Are you available on Friday morning?

That's how bad it looked in July of 2009, but it's not nearly so bad now since we've sprayed it several times with Extended Control Roundup this year. Unfortunately, the extremely wet weather has been defeating our attempts at "zero weed growth". We're hoping that just one morning of concentrated work will get it into walkable condition for the Fall Season.

Gaia's Wisdom Coven & School of Pagan Thought

Topic: Herbology- the basics of harvesting herbs in your local area. If you have any useful herbs growing in your area that you have identified, please bring a sample! Make sure they are herbs, flowers or plants that you already know. I may be able to identify some, but it can take a long time (sometimes) to ID plants just trough general research so we won't be identifying plants at this class.

If you have any books on wildflowers, plants or herbs those are welcome to. Mainly we are talking about plants locally and how people can ID them, how/when to harvest, uses (metaphysical, health, magickal or practical) and any legends/lore attached to the plants. We will also talk about making plant-bio sheets for use in a grimoire or book of shadows.

Weather permitting we may head to the backyard and take a look at a few plants. I also have some samples I will be bringing.

We do have a few of us that know magickal herbs so if you have a question on an herb that is not necessarily a local one but often used in magick, bring your questions too, we can probably answer it.

Salt Lake Witches

Circle of Mother Earth's Meetup Group

Covington Pagan Pride will be held at the same location as last year, Goebel Park at the corner of 5th and Philadelphia. The event and parking are both free, but parking may be a bit limited as the parking lot at the park is rather small. There is on the street parking, but you may have to walk a block or two. Hours for this one-day event are noon 'til 8:00p.m.

year to finish. Which follows with the year and the day requirements of the
Temple.

October is the Witches New Year and we are starting the 1st degree classes for
the new year.

We will be doing 1 chapter a month. Please read the lesson and we will discuss

the questions for you. At class we will discuss the chapter, and you can do the
test at your convience.

South Miami Wiccan & Pagan Meetup

A growing number of people in contemporary society have started looking toward Paganism as a way to reconnect with nature and religion in a more spiritual and less dogmatic way. Many people are drawn to one or a number of the different traditions that fall under the Pagan umbrella such as Wicca, Asatru, Druidry, and Shamanism. Each of these paths are religions that are focused on understanding and living simply within nature, taking a positive approach to life and being a positive example for others.

With that understanding in mind, this course is meant to give you a beginning overview of some of the Pagan faiths. I will outline all the major aspects of Paganism that are spread throughout various traditions as well as try to correct some of the misconceptions that are common in the popular understanding of Paganism. Here you will learn about what drives some these faiths, what their philosophy is, and I will also illustrate what their practices are from holidays, to concepts of afterlife, to basic rules. While this course isn't meant to be inclusive of all the Pagan religions and its different paths, it will show you the largest groups and provide books and linked resources throughout so you can find more information should you choose to explore this religion more deeply.

This course will last 1 year and will take place every other week for a total of 26 classes. This will provide students with ample time to absorb and reflect upon the lesson learned in each class as well as to prepare themselves for the next lesson. By the end of the course, every student should feel comfortable in any ritual setting and have a good foundation of the basics of Paganism. This course will also prepare students to further their spiritual journey either as a solitary practitioner or as a contributing member to a coven.

The Charles County MD Pagan Community

This is a casual event to get to know each other better in a neutral environment - and of course, to catch up with your pagan friends! :) This month we'll be at Old Country Buffet in Waldorf, MD (it's in the same plaza as Staples and PetSmart). It's $13-$14 per person, but there's a large variety of foods and drinks are included. I spent the day bouncing down gravel roads out in the middle of nowhere looking at abandoned Berber villages, that look a lot like Hopi dwellings in the American Southwest.
