Pagan News Review by Lady Phoenix
This is Kristin Madden's revised edition, I have read her first one, and I loved it. I have to say this one has much more detail in it and more of everything. As soon as you open the cover you get a wonderful Hot Mulled Cider recipe, I have made this and it tastes great. This book gives you the Origins of Thanksgiving for Canada and The United States, "Accepted History". She talks about Traditions Around the World, like the Ancient Inca, the Ancient Greeks, Eleusinian Mysteries. There are Myths and Deities, like Persephone, Demeter, Venus, and many others as well. One of my favorite chapters is Symbols Of the Season. The different colors and what they could be used for. For example: Brown would be used for grounding, healing, and the home. Orange for legal matters or success. Stones for the season Amber, or tigers eye to name a couple. A few Rituals that you can use are in this book. Incense recipes, altar decorations. Step by step directions for preparing for ritual from grounding and centering to casting your circle, all the way to closing your circle. There are many wonderful recipes, some I have tried and are very good. Crafts for the season how to make paraffin leaves, apple dolls, a sun wheel, and homemade candles. it's 269 pages and well worth it.
