Pagan News Review by Earthmystry
The Witching Stones are 35 little stones similar to runes but they depict ritual tools, seasons, various symbols and other concepts known in Wicca. It is an unusual set of stones that I did not want to like when I first saw them. One thing I still don’t like about them is that they are made of plastic. After reading the book and working with the stones I changed my mind about them. I grudgingly had to admit that I liked them. And they were smart enough to include the little bag to put them all in. It’s even a nice bag, not just something cheap that will fall apart.
The readings were really good. The book, which is called Symbols of the Craft, offers descriptions of each stone and four different reading layouts that are closer in style to Tarot. Each stone can be read three different ways…Past, Present and Future. I did the same reading three different ways and it all kept saying the same thing…and it was accurate.
Next I tried the stones as magic tools. Literally you are meant to use the little Besom stone as a Besom, the candle stone as a candle, etc. I can’t really get into this part of it but I guess if I was traveling or really in a pinch I might do it with a few of the stones. My 15-year-old likes it though.
Lastly I tried a couple of the spells. The book has two sections for spells simple and advanced. Truthfully I could not see what made one simple and another advanced but maybe I didn’t look hard enough. Overall the spells are not bad. I tried one advanced and one simple spell both with success. My son did the lucky stone spell and says it worked great.
I like this set, it is fun and easy to work with, the readings are the best in my opinion but the spells are good too. Now if they will just re-release them made out of clay or stone or something natural!
