MEET AT HOGS BACK PARK IN OTTAWA AROUND 1:00PM TIL WHENEVER WE FILL LIKE LEAVING.

Get together and play battlegames, questing, socialize and discuss different aspects of the game and answer any questions that anyone has about the game. Also I will ensure that, while everyone is encouraged to have a blast and enjoy the fighting and adventure, the field is safe and everyone does not have to worry about safety of weapons , etc.

Other than that just come on out and goof off with the rest of us and help us grow our park within the Kingdom of Northern Empire that resides here in Canada. The more people we have come out and join us the more fun we can have and then we will be able to play tons of games and organize our own Amtgard events that require lots of fighting, camping, feasting and basically escaping away for the weekend to enjoy yourself and have fun killing people. haha!

  • The Barony of Thor's Refuge Meetup
    Tue, 23 Feb 2010 03:22:57 EST

    photoThe Barony of Thor's Refuge

Everyone must wear a Green hat or a Green bandana on their head to represent an Early St. Patty's Day. Amtgardians participating in the use of such garb may treat themselves to the ability "Luck Point." This means if you get hit you must immediately shout, "Luck Point" and the action is treated as a free hit (or free sluff) from any weapon attack (not magic). This also includes all arrow damage as a complete miss.

By Order of the Baron of Thor's Refuge:

The Baron Collin the Red has advised me that everyone will only be allowed to use the "Luck Point" ability once per game/round. With that in mind, this was officially authorized as of Feb. 21, 2010.

By Order of The Champion Grix:

He has also consented to this being allowed during Battle Games. Official authorization was made Feb. 21, 2010.

    Children's Battle Game:

Children 12 and under will have to "Hunt for the Pot of Gold." But young adventures beware the Leprechans. They will not let you take there gold so easily.

-I need volunteers to be bards or wizards.
-I need one volunteer to be a reeve for this game.

Many of our dancers arent on Meetup, or just dont update all this info as they should (myself included). So the attendance info is highly inaccurate--keeping it right in line with, well, everything about us.
remember, don't just show up! If we're very very busy, we're liable to get grumpy. And grumpy folk with big sticks is a bad combo.

Shades of Ruin Game Announcement - Storms of Devastation

Location:Huntington Central Park, near the library
    7111 Talbert Ave,
    Huntington Beach CA 92648

    Date: Saturday, March 20th, 2010

    NPC Arrival Time: 10AM
    PC Arrival Time/Check-In: 11AM
    Game Start Time:Noon to 7PM

PC Game Fee:$20 for PCs, free for NPCs

Rules: This game uses the Shades of Ruin rules set, which can be found here: http://www.onlineeffe...

Lore: Holdyr Seyth, the ruler of the lands of Marinth on the continent of Vylin Tor, recently gathered a large band to accompany him on a sea voyage from the city Terisgard on the continent of Mythralis back to his own lands. Catastrophe strikes as an unnatural storm smashes into Holdyr Seyth's ships, throwing the vessels off course. The captains are experienced at their trade, but the storm rages with unbridled fury - and the sorcerers among the band sense the power of a dominion unleashed against them. The ships are forced to land many miles from Marinth, but still within Holdyr Seyth's lands. With the ships badly battered by the storm, the group will be forced to make their way to Marinth on foot - but the sorcerers with the group warn that whoever unleashed the ravaging storm may be lying in wait nearby.

Note: This is a line course that will begin near the library, but may take the players to other parts of the park. If you arrive on-site late, call Andrew at 818-620-3695 if you are unable to find the current location of the players.

  • 1st Annual WINTER COSPLAY Day! - Fort Tryon / Cloisters
    Tue, 19 Jan 2010 16:17:49 EST

photoThe Group that Shall Not be Named

One of our most beloved events is our annual Cosplay day. These have been so successful that we have received numerous requests to hold a second one during a colder period of the year. Not only does this make a somewhat more comfortable event, but this also provides an opportunity to show the more....blustery side of Hogwarts living and fashion =)

So don your house scarves, your herbology ear muffs, and your Quidditch gloves. Wrap yourself in your wool cloaks and striped arm warmers. Fill your flask with warm butterbeer and Firewhiskey (if your of age ;) and join us at our next magically photogenic location.

    --

We have chosen Fort Tryon Park and the Cloisters to be the site of this Cosplay day. The park is a magnificent location with twisting paths and tons of trees. The Fort itself was used to defend both the Hudson and East river as parts of it overlook both. The Cloisters is a french monastery brought over to the US by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in the 1800's. Its brick walls, steel portcullis and many arch ways will allow for some incredible scenes.

    --

We do not have an official photographer lined up for this event yet. But as always feel free to bring your own cameras. The more the merrier. Also, if you have any ideas for motif's or posed shots (group, individuals, duo's, action shots, etc.) please feel free to post in the comments!

Our only policy with cameras is that we limit how many cameras are passed around for single shots. Because otherwise we could never move! =)

    --

As always if you do not have a costume or do not want to costume, please come anyway, it will be a great time just hanging out and the park is truly beautiful.

What is Jo Jo’s all about?
    What is their history?

    A little history
Although they may disavow it rigorously, Bill Sze and Cathy Wei are the proprietors of Jojo's Coffee and Tea.
Jojo is not two cups of Joe, Jojo is Bill's daughter. She is a professional student at the University of Massachusetts.
Bill named the shop Jojo's because he really works to pay off her credit cards.

Prior to Jojo's, Bill wrote computer program for a living. After putting tons of endless loops and go to spaghetti code into otherwise perfectly functioning software,
Bill realized the only use he has with computer is play games on it.
So after experienced a major mid-life crisis he decided to give bean roasting a whirl.
Cathy got into this crazy business because she made the huge mistake of marrying Bill.

Even worse: Grumpy hung over people with big sticks (see: Sunday morning at an Ale. Don't know what an Ale is? Well, join us and you can find out!).

  • Tunisian Workshop in Georgetown DE
    Thu, 11 Mar 2010 20:36:53 EST

    Lower DE Bellydance Meetup Group

Yeah! A Tunisian Workshop is happening at Flex World Gym on DuPont Hwy/Rt.113 in Georgetown. The class will consist of: a short history of the culture/peoples, a video of performances and of the peoples, costume review and demonstration of the wrapping of the melia/belt, a performance of the Tunisian dance in costume, and of course the teaching of the dance technique as related to the music of Tunisia. This dance folklore is from yet another region of the Middle Eastern world and is an authentic dance representation of this culture. It involves vigorous hip and foot work with minimal hand, arm, and upper body movement. Much of the dancing is on the balls of the feet.

Wear comfortable dance pants/clothing, some dance shoes (not street shoes) and/or socks, a veil that can represent a Tunisian hip belt, bring a notepad, all of your questions, and your beautiful selves to share with the other members of your class. A half hour snack time is given (please clean up though as I am trying to impress the manager in order to have more workshops at this venue). Also bring your loved/but used costumes or accessories to buy/sell/swap with other dancers during the break time.

It is easy to find from East, South, and North. From Lewes/Rehoboth travel Rt. 9 to Georgetown - go to the first turn-off from the circle toward 404 - then left at the light (Ford Boulevard) - going Southbound 1/4 mi. or so - with Flex World Gym on your right in the back; from Salisbury travel Rt. 113 North -turning right onto Rt. 9 toward Georgetown - turning left at the light at Georgetown (Wilmington Bank at this intersection) - going Northbound 1/2 mi. or so - crossover to left side of Hwy. to Flex World Gym; from the North/Rt. 1 turn into Milford/Rt. 113 - continue traveling South on Rt. 113 to Georgetown - through light past Hardees/Ford Boulevard (intersection) - going Southbound 1/4 mi. or so from light - turn right at Flex World Gym.

I encourage questions/your involvement, want to pass on this beautiful form of dance to caring people, am available to help in your work on this and other dance forms from the Middle East. Light & Love,

    photoShire of Felfrost

The more people we have come out and join us the more fun we can have and then we will be able to play tons of games and organize our own Amtgard events that require lots of fighting, camping, feasting and basically escaping away for the weekend to enjoy yourself and have fun killing people. haha!
